Where can I find a list of the NuGenesis SDMS error codes? - WKB56821
Article number: 56821
ENVIRONMENT
- NuGenesis 9 SDMS
- NuGenesis 8 SDMS
ANSWER
SDMS defines its own error codes with the form [NGxxxxx], where xxxxx is a 4- or 5-digit number. Here is a list of the known NuGenesis error codes, messages, and links to related articles.
For a list of common error messages from the NuGenesis Archive Agent, see article WKB93230.
- [NG4294] "One or more of the reasons selected are utilized by the eSig Sequence created by the eSig Sequence Builder and cannot be disabled or deleted."
- This code occurs when attempting to delete one of the eSignature reasons in a project in SDMS Administrator and the reason is used in an eSig Sequence.
- [NG6744] "Failure installing font '<font name>'"
- This error code occurs most often in NuGenesis Preview when one or more of the reports selected for viewing contain fonts which do not exist on the client machine.
- Error: "[NG6744] Failure installing font ..." appears when opening a report in NuGenesis Preview
- [NG6808] "The report with ID = '#' had utilized font 'fontname, style, size' when it was originally printed. This font cannot be located on this system or on the database server, therefore the system will use a font that matches the characteristics of the original font as closely as possible."
- [NG8352] "A reason must be selected for each event listed. If there are no reasons available for an event, you cannot continue with this operation."
- [NG8356] "A comment must be provided when filing a Reason For Change."
- This message appears when a user makes an auditable change to a project, the project requires a reason for change, and the comment field is blank.
- [NG10016] "The requested action requires an open project."
- [NG10017] "A general error occurred. Please close your web browser and try again."

- [NG14419] Managed Store Error: Error while opening file.
- This can occur when the file is not present on the Manage Storage location
- Error: "NG14419 Managed Storage error" appears when opening a report in NuGenesis Preview and the report's eSignature history is not available
- Error: "[NG14419] Managed Store Error: Error while opening file" appears in mark_bad files in the NuGenesis TE_TEMP folder
- When printing multiple-page reports to NuGenesis UNIFY, the reports remain stuck in TE TEMP and are not moved to Managed Storage
- [NG14420] "Operating system error: Failed to open file"
- [NG14421] "Field label does not match: 'Source = x, Destination = y' Do you want to proceed anyway?"

- [NG14427] "Data Insertion time integrety check failed"
- [NG14510] "Can't create temporary file"

- [NG14521] "Error saving clipboard to disk."
- [NG14529] "ODBC driver reports error: <message from Oracle DB>"
- This error code indicates that the NuGenesis software received an error code from the Oracle database or TNS listener. The error message should contain an Oracle-specific code of the type "ORA-xxxxx" and a message delivered from the Oracle software. As the [NG14529] code is used for all Oracle errors, it is best to investigate the Oracle error code, rather than the NuGenesis error code, in troubleshooting issues of this type.
- [NG14535] "The filter criteria are invalid."
- [NG14536] "This DSN cannot be used. It may contain invalid characters or there may be no database file specified. Check that the DSN is setup correctly."

- [NG14561] "Some of the project information has been modified outside NuGenesis so no new data may be entered. Please check the project parameters using NuGenesis SDMS Administrator."
- [NG14570] "Unknown database error"
- This error typically occurs when NuGenesis is unable to store or retrieve data to/from the system. Usually the root cause is not the Oracle database but rather with a Managed Storage location (FTP site).
- Error in the TE_TEMP mark_bad files: "[NG14570] Unknown database error"
- Error: "[NG14570] Unknown database error" when copying records to a Managed Storage project in NuGenesis WebVision

- [NG14607] "Unable to connect to the database using the static user. Please contact your database administrator to properly setup the static user."
- Error: "[NG14607] Unable to connect to the database using the static user" appears when logging in to NuGenesis SDMS applications
- This error code means that the ngstaticuser account in the Oracle database is locked or has had it's password changed. NuGenesis SDMS uses this account in order to make the initial database connection and retrieve the list of servers from the database. The ngstaticuser account must remain open and it's password cannot be expired nor changed.
- [NG14614] "The password you used to login has expired"
- [NG14620] "This NuGenesis User account has been disabled. Please contact your system administrator."

- [NG14697] "Some file operation failed on sMSL."
- [NG14705] "Serialization Error on sMSL. Please try again."
- [NG14800] "WARNING: The privilege to print to this project from UNIFY has not been granted for the current login. Please see your system administrator."
- The user does not have privileges in SDMS to print to this project. Grant the user the "Capture Print Data" privilege in the project privileges.
- [NG14828] "MSL API: Invalid parameter"
- [NG14837] Invalid username/password; logon denied

SDMS will write an entry to the audit trail for the failed authentication attempt. The audit trail entry will contain the contents of the User Name field as entered by the user.
- Error: "clsTKControl.PerformAgentLogin: Failed to login to server. : [NG14837] Invalid username/password; logon denied." appears in the NuGenesis Archive Agent log file - WKB58617

- [NG15504] "An error occurred while reading the local project list"
- [NG15508] "CRC mismatch for record in 'ContentDetail'"
- [NG15534] "Serializing error has occurred in iMSL"
- [NG17538] "Unable to create LDAP session."
- [NG17543] "LDAP driver reports error: <message from LDAP server>"

- [NG17555] "The server license has been modified outside of NuGenesis."
- This message indicates data corruption in the server licenses in SDMS.
- [NG17557] "This account has expired. Please contact your system administrator."

- [NG24034] "Server Group is not valid"
- [NG24035] "Server 'x' is not valid"
- The most common reason for this error is that the server named in the error message does not exist in the tnsnames.ora file. This error could occur in any SDMS client application. If the error occurs in WebVision, then the rlevant tnsnames.ora file is on the SDMS web server; if it occurs in SDMS Admin, then the relevant file would be in the Oracle client used by SDMS Admin; if the error occurs in UNIFY, then the relevant file would be on the NuGenesis RPC server (typically on the SDMS web server).
