SYMPTOMS

• The following error message appears when starting the SDMS Instrument Agents:
  • [NG15501] Unable to save the local list - is the directory writable?

ENVIRONMENT

• NuGenesis 9 SDMS
• NuGenesis 8 SDMS

CAUSE

File system permissions prevent the logged-in user from writing to the NGLocalProjectList.xml file.

FIX or WORKAROUND

1. Adjust the permissions on the SDMS installation folder (Drive:\Program Files (x86)\Waters\NGSDMS\database) to allow users to write to the \database folder
