Error "[NG14578] Can't write settings to INI file" appears while trying to create a new NuGenesis template - WKB11586

SYMPTOMS

• The following error message appears when editing a template in NuGenesis SDMS Administrator:
  • [NG14578] Can't write settings to INI file

ENVIRONMENT

• NuGenesis 9 SDMS
• NuGenesis 8 SDMS

CAUSE

The user does not have read-write permissions for NuGenesis files in the C:\Windows directory.

FIX or WORKAROUND

Grant Read and Write permissions on win.ini and the NG*.* files in C:\Windows to the Everyone group.

If the user does not have privileges to create new files in C:\Windows, then create a file named NGTmpV.ini (for NuGenesis 9) / NG80TmpV.ini (for NuGenesis 8) in C:\Windows and allow users to write to it.
