Troubleshooting low ESI sensitivity on QTofs with MagneTOF detectors (Guided Troubleshooting) - WKB101295

Article number: 101295

SYMPTOMS

  • Low sensitivity when directly infusing a sample or when injecting an LCMS sample or both
  • Low resolution observed in some cases

ENVIRONMENT

  • Xevo G2
  • Xevo G2-S
  • Xevo G2-XS
  • SYNAPT G2
  • SYNAPT G2-S
  • SYNAPT G2-Si

STRATEGY

SOFTWARE SOLUTIONS
  1. Verify that the Tune page settings are correct:
    a. Check that Veff is a normal value and adjust as needed - WKB51479
    b. Check the quad profile and set to auto profile or the setting that is normally used - WKB91752
    c. Check that the TriWave region gas flow settings are at defaults - WKB63006
  2. If sensitivity decreases over the course of a batch, enable automatic detector gain control - WKB62583
  3. Optimize the collector voltage - WKB99046
HARDWARE SOLUTIONS
  1. Check the argon supply. Open tank, adjust regulator, or replace tank as required - WKB886
  2. If sensitivity is low when directly infusing a sample, ensure that the sample is in the correct reservoir position - WKB16264
  3. Check the sample probe position and optimize as necessary - WKB7084
  4. Reboot electronics - WKB93040

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

If high background/contamination peaks from the LC are observed, use higher-quality solvents (e.g., Waters solvent kit, MilliQ water, LCMS-grade solvents, etc.) -  WKB73035
