Files are not captured by SDMS - WKB2198

Article number: 2198

SYMPTOMS

  • Files were placed in a scan path (ex:\\server1\shareddata\) for archiving by NuGenesis, but the files are not visible in WebVision.

ENVIRONMENT

  • NuGenesis 9 SDMS
  • NuGenesis 8 SDMS
  • Archiving files with the NuGenesis Generic data adapter

CAUSE

The most common reason for this is that the file does not meet the archive criteria in the archive template.

FIX or WORKAROUND

Open the template in SDMS Administrator. Take note of the Capture Parameters, Execution Parameters, and the Archive Protocol..

  • Path: Ensure that the files are in the scan path, or in a subdirectory, if Scan Sub-folders = All
  • File Pattern: Ensure that the pattern does not exclude the file or files to be archived.  Typically the pattern is *.*
  • Folder Pattern: this field should be blank, except for template lines which archive Waters MassLynx data, and for those lines where the folder name should be used to identify folders for archiving.  The file pattern *.* should NOT be used here as a means of specifying "all folders", as it will restrict the archive candidates to only those folders which have a dot "." in the name
  • Ignore Archive Bit: if this check box is clear, then the Archive Agent will archive only files that have the Archive bit set. If this check box is selected, the Ignore Archive Bit is active for the template line, which has its own rules and is beyond the scope of this article
  • Archive Protocol: the file or files to be archived must meet the date condition set in this field. SDMS archives only files that meet this criteria. Example: One Day After file Modified = the file's modification date must be at least one day in the past before SDMS will archive it
  • Last Run Date/Time: Should be set to a date in the future.  If this date is in the past then the template line will not be executed.  Not applicable to NG8 FR1 and later versions.  This field was removed in NuGenesis 8 FR1
