Troubleshooting poor mass accuracy on TOF instruments with IntelliStart (Guided Troubleshooting) - WKB96600

SYMPTOMS

Symptoms are not limited to but may include:

• Mass accuracy on standards and/or customer's samples is consistently poor
• Installation or qualification mass accuracy test fails
• LCMS system check fails due to poor mass accuracy
• Excessive chemical noise interferes with some peaks of interest

STRATEGY

Software Solutions:

1. If applicable, ensure that MassLynx data is processed using Automatic Peak Detection and correct LockMass settings - WKB10191
2. Ensure that LockSpray signal is present at an appropriate intensity. If not, purge fluidics  - WKB16318
3. Check resolution and tune as needed. Then recalibrate and run LockSpray setup - WKB17015
4. Optimize LockSpray using scan time and frequency - WKB21899

Sample and Solvent Solution:

Use correct combination of Leu Enk and Glu Fib concentrations in LockSpray sample - WKB7813

Hardware Solution:

Resolve high lab temperature variation and then recalibrate - WKB13352
