How to configure backup notifications in WDM - WKB5661

OBJECTIVE or GOAL

Configure email notifications for the daily backup in Waters Database Manager (WDM).  Note: email notifications in WDM are independt of any notification system in the applications (Empower, NuGenesis).  This procedure concerns only the configuration of email alerts from WDM.

ENVIRONMENT

• UNIFI 1.8.x Network and Workstation
• UNIFI 1.9.x Network and Workstation
• waters_connect
• Waters Database Manager (WDM)
• Empower 3 Feature Release 4 and later
• NuGenesis 8 SR2
• NuGenesis 9.x

PROCEDURE

1. Log in to WDM
2. Click on Manage Backups > Administration tab
3. Click on Configure SMTP Server and Port
4. Enter the IP address and port for the company mail server (default port for SMTP is 25). Click Submit
5. Go to Backups tab > Backup Jobs
6. From Report Actions, select Subscription
7. Enter your email address, subject, frequency, time and period, and then click Apply
8. The email notifications from WDM are now configured
   Note: The email notification consists of only the status of Backups, but not any Backup log attached to the email.
