How do I configure email notifications in NuGenesis SDMS? - WKB8434
Article number: 8434
OBJECTIVE or GOAL
Configure NuGenesis SDMS so that it can send email notifications.
ENVIRONMENT
- NuGenesis 9 SDMS
- NuGenesis 8 SDMS
PROCEDURE
- Obtain a copy of the "ngsdms_modify_ngsmtp_settings.sql" script from the NuGenesis Oracle Database installer disk or in the article attachments.
- Run this script on the NuGenesis database as the System user through the SQL*Plus client.
- The script will prompt for three inputs:
- The SMTP server name. If you do not know the name of the email server, see How do I get the primary email server for a domain? - WKB8419
- The email purge interval. This is the interval at which cached emails are deleted from the database. The default value is 4 hours.
- The From address. SDMS uses this email address as the From address for all email notifications. Because most email servers will reject emails if the From address is not a valid account in the domain, use a valid email account rather than the default value, "NuGenesis_SDMS". For best results, this address should be a "no-reply" account.
- When the script is complete, log in to the SDMS Administrator client to send a test message.
- Right-click any project in the Master List and choose Properties.
- Select the Events tab.
- Add a user account to the recipient list. Note that the user account in SDMS must have an email address in order to receive emails.
- Select the user account and click Test EMail.
- Confirm with the user that the email appears in their email inbox.
