No beam (no peaks, no signal) on TOF mass spectrometers (Guided Troubleshooting) - WKB96390

SYMPTOMS

• No beam in some or all modes (MS, MSMS, positive, negative, others)

STRATEGY

1. Increase capillary voltage on sample probe to 5 kV. If some peaks appear in low mass region, it indicates that mass spectrometer is working. Check whether fluid is supplied to the probe.
   1. Determine if the fluidics lines are out of solvent in the wash solvent reservoir. (WKB1269)
   2. Purge the sample valve. (WKB24596)
2. Check the various modes (such as MS, MSMS, positive, negative).
3. No beam in MSMS mode only. (WKB3503)
