Active preheater leaks - WKB94209

SYMPTOMS

• Leak found between active preheater and column
• Abnormal chromatography peak shape
• Shifted retention time of peaks

CAUSE

The active preheater fitting has been overtightened to the column. This can distort the PEEK ferrule, causing a dead volume at the head of the column and leading to leaks or abnormal chromatography.

FIX or WORKAROUND

1. Replace the PEEK ferrule on the active preheater.
2. Avoid overtightening the active preheater fitting on the column.
