Cannot get PEEK column ferrule off active preheater - WKB65689

Article number: 65689

SYMPTOMS

  • PEEK column ferrule for active preheater stuck on the preheater tubing.
  • Ferrule is not the back-locking ferrule.

ENVIRONMENT

  • ACQUITY UPLC I-Class Sample Manager FTN
  • ACQUITY UPLC I-Class Column Heater - Active (CH-A)
  • ACQUITY UPLC H-Class
  • ACQUITY UPLC H-Class Bio
  • ACQUITY APC
  • ACQUITY UPLC

CAUSE

Old PEEK ferrule was tightened too many times with a wrench. The repetitive over-tightening of the ferrule has warped the metal tubing of the active preheater, making the PEEK ferrule difficult to remove.

FIX or WORKAROUND

Replace the active preheater.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

The PEEK ferrule is only designed for a few uses per ferrule. Change ferrules if you observe leaks when installing a column.

Stainless ferrule cannot be removed and the APH must be replaced.
