Cannot create new system after removing the old system from Empower - WKB61621

SYMPTOMS

• Cannot create new system after removing the old system from Empower
• When trying to recreate the system, Empower does not identify any of the instruments configured to LAC/E32
• The ACQUITY system is configured physically to the LAC/E32
• The Instrument tab in node properties is blank, while DHCP lists the IP addresses of the system
• In the properties of the instrument LAN, the card is not configured correctly

ENVIRONMENT

• Empower 3 Enterprise
• ACQUITY UPLC
• Ethernet instruments

CAUSE

The instrument LAN is not configured, causing a communication issue between the LAC/E32 and the ACQUITY system.

FIX or WORKAROUND

1. Configure the NIC card to the appropriate address.
2. Power-off the system and remove the entries from DHCP.
3. Configure the Waters DHCP server.
4. Reboot the LAC/E32.
5. Open DHCP via C:\Empower\Instruments\Waters DHCP Server Configuration.exe.
6. Power-on each system module.
7. Confirm that DHCP auto-populates with an IP address for each module.
8. Log in to Empower and go to node properties. Select the Instruments tab and scan for instruments. Confirm that all modules appear and show OK? yes.
9. Create the new system.
