SYMPTOMS

• Communication problems with the ACQUITY SQ Detector 2 (SQD2) and Empower 3
• Error messages can include "File error: c:\Empower\Instruments\HTML\ACQ-SQD2\HarrierSQD.ipr could not be opened"

ENVIRONMENT

• Empower 3 (multiple versions)
• ACQUITY SQ Detector 2 (SQD2)

CAUSE

Microsoft Windows security update KB4489882 was installed.

FIX or WORKAROUND

1. Remove Microsoft Windows security update KB4489882.
2. Ensure that ICS v1.52 is installed (as described in WKB19953).
