OBJECTIVE or GOAL
How to calculate the heat output of an instrument in order to properly cool the laboratory.
- All instrumentation
- Locate the specified amperage and voltage numbers for the equipment.
- Calculate: Average Watts = (Specified Amperage x 0.707) x Voltage.= VA (Waters LC's are already in VA)
- Calculate: BTU/Hr = Average Watts x 3.412 or Volt Amps (VA) x 3.412
- This gives you the heat output per hour for this piece of instrumentation.
The Site Preparation Guides show the Power Consumption in either Watts (KW or W) or Volt Amps (VA)
