How do I replace the source heater on a Xevo TQ-S micro? - WKB74738

OBJECTIVE or GOAL

Replace the source heater cartridge (700005347) on a TQ-S micro.

PROCEDURE

  1. Place the MS into Standby mode.
  2. Vent the instrument.
  3. Close MassLynx software.
  4. Switch the instrument power off.
  5. Allow the ion block to cool.
  6. Open the source enclosure door of the MS to access the ion block.
  7. Locate the source ion block cover plate and remove it by unscrewing the two securing screws.

  8. Access the PEEK block and the ceramic holder and remove the three screws in the PEEK block.

  9. Remove the cartridge from the ceramic block by removing the three rods.
  10. Insert a new heater cartridge into the ceramic block.

  11. Place the hooks around the screws in the PEEK terminal block and secure the screws to the ion block.
  12. Resecure the ion block cover plate.
  13. Close the source enclosure door.
  14. Switch the power on and wait for the EPC to start up.
  15. Open MassLynx.
  16. Pump the MS down.
  17. Open the tune page and verify that the ion block heats to the set temperature.
