How to change from LockSpray to MALDI source and from MALDI source to LockSpray? - WKB74747

OBJECTIVE or GOAL

• Change from LockSpray to MALDI source.
• Change from MALDI source to LockSpray.

ENVIRONMENT

• SYNAPT G2
• SYNAPT G2-S
• SYNAPT G2-Si
• SYNAPT HDMS

PROCEDURE

From LockSpray to MALDI:
1. On the Tune page, click Vacuum > Vent to vent the instrument.
2. Close the MassLynx software.
3. Change to MALDI.
4. Start up MassLynx.
* When MassLynx starts up, a window appears indicating that you have changed to the MALDI source.
5. On the Tune page, click Vacuum > Pump to pump down.

From MALDI to LockSpray:
1. On the Tune page, click Vacuum > Vent to vent the instrument.
2. Close the MassLynx software.
3. Change to LockSpray.
4. Start up MassLynx.
* When MassLynx starts up, a window appears indicating that you have changed to the ESCi source.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

If you have any problems switching sources, try the following:

1. Close MassLynx.
2. Run "stop acquity processes".
3. Remove the two color-coded source cables.
4. Perform electronic reboot and wait five minutes.
5. Open MassLynx
6. Replace the two color-coded cables
7. Accept source recognition. 

You can also check the ACQUITY console window drop-down menu for the source type being used and select ESI or MALDI depending on the source currently connected in order to force MassLynx to recognize the new source.

A PC reboot may also be required.
