SYMPTOMS
- Analyser MS2 Penning gauge reads inaccurately e.g. 1.0 e-8 mbar or 1.0 e-2 mbar
- Failure reoccurs within a few months of replacing the Penning gauge body
ENVIRONMENT
- Xevo TQ-XS
- Xevo TQ Absolute
CAUSE
The vacuum window gauge is being left open on the tune page. This switches the Penning gauge on all the time leading to it becoming dirty quickly.
FIX or WORKAROUND
- Only open the vacuum gauge window in the tune page when needing to monitor pressures within the instrument.
