Penning gauge needs frequent replacing or cleaning - WKB297819

SYMPTOMS

• Analyzer MS2 Penning gauge reads inaccurately (for example, 1.0 e-8 mbar or 1.0 e-2 mbar)
• Failure reoccurs within a few months of replacing the Penning gauge body

ENVIRONMENT

• Xevo TQ-XS
• Xevo TQ Absolute

CAUSE

The vacuum window gauge is left open on the tune page. This switches the Penning gauge on at all times, which leads it to become dirty quickly.

FIX or WORKAROUND

Open the vacuum gauge window on the tune page only when you need to monitor pressures within the instrument.
