ENVIRONMENT

ANSWER

1. Investigate with your laboratory/facility manager for any unplanned/planned power shortage in the laboratory or the facility.

2. Close all MS software-related applications on the PC controlling the LC-MS system, including the Xevo G2-XS.

3. Switch OFF the PC.

4. Switch OFF the Xevo G2-XS mass spectrometer per the Overview and Maintenance Guide document.

5. If applicable, switch OFF all LC inlet components.

6. Remove the Xevo G2-XS mass spectrometer power cord plug from the main socket, if cleared by your laboratory/facility manager.

7. If cleared by your laboratory/facility manager, switch ON the PC and enter Windows login details.

8. If cleared by your laboratory/facility manager, switch ON the LC inlet components in the following order:

a. Sample manager

b. Solvent manager module(s)

c. Column manager, if applicable

d. Optical detector, if applicable

9. Wait for all the configured LC modules to reinitialize, and then, if cleared by your laboratory/facility manager, fit the Xevo G2-XS mass spectrometer power cord plug to the designated main socket before switching ON the Xevo G2-XS mass spectrometer (per the Overview and Maintenance Guide document).

10. Only if you have been trained to do so, follow the instrument pump-down protocol section in the Overview and Maintenance Guide document.

11. Record vacuum pressure readbacks from the vacuum tab of the MS tune page during operation (if applicable) and note overall performance of the LC-MS system.

If the Xevo G2-XS mass spectrometer cannot pump down. Call your local service representative.

If the Xevo G2-XS mass spectrometer can pump down but vents itself again:

- Record the frequency of the random vent events.

- Determine whether any environmental events (planned or unplanned IT tasks, unplanned power shortage, others) could be associated with the random vent events.

- Collect previous vacuum readings during the latest operation, if applicable (see step 11).

- Call your local service representative to share the information.
