PROCEDURE

  1. Open tune page and shutdown gases and place MS in standby
  2. Vent the mass spec by selecting the vent option in the tune page.
  3. Navigate to the diagnostics tab in the tune page and monitor the turbo speeds. Once the turbo speeds have reached 0 or close to 0 the MS can be powered off.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

When powering MS back on you must first power on the computer and log into windows. Then verify that the firewall for the instrument LAN was not enabled during the computer reboot. Then power the instrument on and wait 5 minutes. Once that time has elapsed launch the acquisition software. Start the roughing pumps by selecting pump in the tune page, which is generally found under the options or vacuum drop down depending. This will depend on your acquisition software version. Once the turbo speeds have reached 80% you can place the instrument into operate and turn the gases.

It is advisable to let a triple quad pump down over night if it has been vented for more than a couple of hours so that the collision cell can get to sufficient vacuum.
