ACQUITY UPLC Tunable UV Detector flow cell leaks - WKB56055

Article number: 56055

SYMPTOMS

  • The peak of interest does not appear, and the chromatographic baseline is noisy
  • Corrosion is visible around the lower flow cell body
  • The drip tray has buildup of solvent precipitate
  • The back pressure regulator has salt buildup on the edges
  • Pulling the flow cell out and running flow reveals leaks on the flow cell tubing

ENVIRONMENT

  • H-Class
  • ACQUITY UPLC Tunable UV Detector

CAUSE

Damaged / defective flow cell (possibly due to high salts and various solvent buildup causing high back pressure)

FIX or WORKAROUND

  1. Replace the flow cell (see WKB61002)
  2. Verify functionality by performing initialization and wavelength calibration successfully

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

In some cases, if the salt buildup is after the flow cell, it may be advisable to replace the back pressure regulator (700002676).
