ACQUITY UPLC H-Class runs at a lower pressure than normal - WKB56050

SYMPTOMS

  • Typical run pressure is 2,000–4,000 psi lower than normal
  • System fails dynamic leak test only when the needle and seat are included
  • Needle seal readiness test fails

ENVIRONMENT

  • ACQUITY UPLC H-Class
  • ACQUITY UPLC H-Class Bio
  • ACQUITY PREMIER
  • ACQUITY UPLC Sample Manager - Flow Through Needle PLUS (SM-FTN PLUS)

CAUSE

The needle seat has worn and no longer makes a good seal.

FIX or WORKAROUND

  1. Replace the needle and needle seat.
  2. Run z axis calibration, needle seal characterization, and the needle seal readiness check after replacement.
