How to reset communications on ACQUITY system with Sciex mass spectrometer and Analyst software - WKB27210

OBJECTIVE or GOAL

Establish or reset communications on ACQUITY devices connected to Sciex mass spectrometer and Analyst software.

ENVIRONMENT

  • ACQUITY UPLC systems (I-Class, H-Class, M-Class, nanoACQUITY, Classic)
  • Sciex mass spectrometers (3200, 4000, 5000, 5500, 6500, QTRAP, and/or Triple TOF)
  • Analyst software
  • Operating system DOS command prompts
  • DHCP server (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol)

PROCEDURE

  1. Set Analyst (Sciex) software in Standby.
  2. Deactivate hardware profile in Analyst software.
  3. Exit Analyst software.
  4. Reboot the Sciex computer.
  5. Power-off all UHPLC devices in the stack.
  6. Log in to the Windows OS on the computer.
  7. Stop ACQUITY UPLC Services on the Waters processes. (Path: Computer>Local disk (Computer>C:>Program Files (x86) >Waters Instruments>Bin)
  8. Open the DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) server and remove all the devices. (Path: Computer>Local disk (Computer>C:>Program Files (x86) >Waters Instruments)
  9. Turn on the devices in the ACQUITY UPLC stack.
    1. For Classic ACQUITY: Switch on the Column Manager first.
    2. For I-Class, H-Class, M-Class, nanoACQUITY: Switch on the Sample Manager first.
  10. Wait for DHCP to completely populate all the devices. It is suggested to turn on only one ACQUITY UPLC device at a time and wait for DHCP to populate, and then repeat until all the devices are listed with serial numbers and IP addresses.
  11. In the DOS CMD window:
    a. (optional) Ping the actual IP address of each component in the ACQUITY UPLC stack (for example, if Sample Manager is address 10.10.10.11 in the DHCP server, type "ping 10.10.10.11 -t" to ping the sample manager).
    b. (optional) DOS CMD prompt: type "i" and press Enter to watch readbacks in DOS format.
    c. Close the DOS CMD window.
  12. Open the SCIEX Analyst program.
  13. Activate Hardware Profile in Analyst.
  14. Configuring the ACQUITY UPLC instruments in Console:
    a. Under Companion Software in the Analyst left-hand pane, double-click ACQUITY UPLC Console. The Console window opens.
    b. Select Configure > Configure instrument modules. The Instrument Configuration dialog box opens.  
    c. Select the ACQUITY UPLC instruments as required, and then click OK. The configuration is updated and saved.
