How to clean for passivation of metal tubing - WKB272307
OBJECTIVE or GOAL
- Clean for passivation of metal tubing to reduce sample adsorption.
ENVIRONMENT
- Alliance HPLC System
- Arc HPLC System
- ACQUITY UPLC
- ACQUITY UPLC H-Class
- ACQUITY UPLC H-Class PLUS
- ACQUITY UPLC I-Class
- ACQUITY UPLC I-Class PLUS
- ACQUITY Arc
PROCEDURE
After priming with 30% phosphoric acid in water at a flow rate of 0.5 mL/min for 500 minutes to passivate the LC system, start a flow at 1 mL/min with 1 L of LCMS-grade water overnight or for 12 hours or until the liquid runs out. Ensure that the solvent from the waste has a pH of 7.
(During the passivation step and subsequent cleaning, the column should be removed, and the tubing should be diverted to waste rather than attached to the LC-MS.)
