OBJECTIVE or GOAL
Follow best practices for troubleshooting loss of communication between instrument devices and the UNIFI or waters_connect UNIFI PC (workstation and LND).

PROCEDURE

Confirm with your Local Waters Service Support representative that the latest Waters UNIFI instrument drivers are installed.

Check with your Local Informatics Department representative for any past events that could have altered the assigned IP addresses of your system components.

Ensure that the antivirus exceptions list is set correctly for the Server, LND, and Client. For unknown reasons, the exceptions list can be lost or reset to some default.
- Confirm that no new Microsoft Windows update hotfix has been installed.

- Any firewall components could block the ports used for communication between all instrument system components. Ensure with your Local Informatics Department representative that all required UNIFI ports are open and in listening state.
o Verify with your local Informatics Department the Windows Defender Firewall - Inbound rules, and use the link to the Waters Informatics Infrastructure Reference Guide (Waters.com website login required) to locate the UNIFI software and Oracle port requirements.
