OBJECTIVE or GOAL

Direct SDMS to a new FTP host for a Managed Storage location without changing the location parameters.

ENVIRONMENT

  • NuGenesis 8 SDMS
  • The FTP server used for one or more NuGenesis Managed Storage locations is replaced with a new server with a new hostname

PROCEDURE

  1. Stop the NuGenesis RPC 8.0 service on the NuGenesis File Capture server or servers.
  2. Open the Hosts file (C:\Windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts) in Notepad.
  3. Enter a line that contains the IP address of the new FTP server and the name of the old FTP server.  Example:
    • 10.101.105.230        oldFTPServerHostname
  4. Save and close the file.
  5. Copy all of the files from the old FTP server to the new one per the linked article.
    • Skip step 5 if the FTP server is merely renamed instead of replaced by a new machine.
