Error: "File was not deleted" appears in the NuGenesis Data Management activity logs - WKB1616

SYMPTOMS

  • SDMS Data Management is not deleting files
  • The following error messages appear in the  DM activity logs:
    • File was not deleted.NGDM Error 40241
    • Failed to open Source File

ENVIRONMENT

  • NuGenesis 8 SDMS

CAUSE

  • The files were no longer located in that path. The files were either deleted manually or removed from the location
  • The NuGenesis RPC service user does not have permission to access the network path

FIX or WORKAROUND

  1. Verify whether the files and paths as stated in the DM activity log do exist; if not, then they were deleted by another, non-NuGenesis process.
  2. See whether the NuGenesis RPC service account has permissions to read, write, and delete files from the network paths.
  3. Increase the batch size in the Data Management configuration to allow the module to delete other DM candidates while the errors are investigated and resolved.
