ANSWER

The Document Creator Service's log file is in the user profile folder for the service's logon account.

Example paths:

• NuGenesis 8 SR1: C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Waters\NuGenesis ELN Document Creator\8.0.1.0
• NuGenesis 8 FR1: C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Waters\NuGenesis LMS Document Creator\8.0.2.0
• NuGenesis 8 SR2: C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Waters\NuGenesis LMS Document Creator\8.0.3.0

There are two log files: one for the main service and one for the substitution routines (the ones that run and replace the data for templates that use the Template Range Substitution metadata).

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

The DCS's configuration program may not display the correct path for the log files. The config tool reads "%APPDATA%\Waters\..." from the configuration file and expands that path into the AppData folder for the current user. This user may not be the same account as the one assigned to the Document Creator Service. Always consult the Services control panel to get the service's logon account and the correct path for the DCS log files. Use the process described in the article "How do I identify the NG RPC Service user?" but select the service NuGenesis Document Creator Service instead of NuGenesis RPC 8.0.
