SDMS Data Management is unable to delete projects from Empower - WKB10600

SYMPTOMS

• Empower projects were archived by NuGenesis SDMS
• The SDMS records show that the original projects in Empower are scheduled for deletion
• The Data Management log file has the following error message:

  • "Login Error: A user-supplied component or subscriber raised an exception (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80040208)"

ENVIRONMENT

• NuGenesis 9 SDMS
  • Data Adapters Release 1 or later
• NuGenesis 8 SDMS
  • Data Adapters Release 2, 3, or later

CAUSE

The NuGenesis Data Management user does not have access to the project in Empower.

FIX or WORKAROUND

1. Identify the SDMS Data Management user. This user account will be used by the DM module when logging in via the Empower Toolkit:
   1. Log in to the NuGenesis SCC.
   2. Select the Data Management module.
   3. Look in the User Name field in the DM Configuration.
2. Log in to the Empower client with the username as seen in the DM Configuration.
3. Click "Configure the System".
4. Locate the project within the Projects list.
5. Verify whether the DM User is listed as the project owner; if not, open the project properties and verify whether the project is available to any user groups.
6. If the DM User does not have access to the project, log in to the Empower client as the project owner and change the Access list accordingly.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

This problem occurs most often with projects that have a Full Lock in Empower, but it can occur on unlocked projects, if the DM user is not an Administrator within Empower.

When projects are being archived using "Project Level" grouping, their Lock Status doesn't change in Empower. If, later on, a user changes the Lock Status in Empower to "Full Lock", the error occurs:
