Error message "Failure to run Analytical Component Engine" in MassLynx - WKB3726

SYMPTOMS

• Error message "Failure to run Analytical Component Engine" after system reboot
• Error message  "Unable to run external application" might also occur in combination with the one above

ENVIRONMENT

• MassLynx

CAUSE

The error message relates to the Inlet Kernel (the part of the software that controls/defines the LC system). This error can appear if the inlet configuration files or registry keys become corrupted.

FIX or WORKAROUND

1. Run MassLynx repair. If error persists, proceed with the following steps:
2. Back up MassLynx.
3. Uninstall MassLynx.
4. Uninstall ICOPs.
5. Delete the ICOP folder located at C/Drive > Program Files (x86) > Micromass Utilities.
6. Install the current MassLynx SCN and respective ICOPs (WKB6207).
7. Reboot the full system, including the PC.
8. Establish communication with all instruments before opening MassLynx.
9. If error persists, reimage PC.
10. Ensure there are no active antivirus software running.
11. Repeat steps 5 to 7.
