The shutdown method on the General tab of the instrument method editor appears fully functional for some Agilent LCs but is missing for some using Empower 3 - WKB68563

SYMPTOMS

• The shutdown method on the General tab of the instrument method editor appears fully functional for some Agilent LCs but is missing for some using Empower 3
• There is no correlation to firmware levels
• Systems were created at different times using the Agilent PreConfiguration utility

ENVIRONMENT

• Empower 3 Feature Release 2
• Agilent Instrument Control Framework (ICF) Support Version 3.0 
• Agilent 1290 Infinity II LC
• Agilent PreConfiguration utility

CAUSE

• The Agilent PreConfiguration utility was used to create the systems, but usage was inconsistent 
• Some systems were created using the Tools menu in Configuration Manager; others were created using the Windows folder (C:\empower\instruments\Agilent)

FIX or WORKAROUND

1. Delete and reconfigure the instrument using the Agilent PreConfiguration utility.
2. Use the Agilent PreConfiguration utility from the Tools in Configuration Manager instea of from the Windows folder, and be consistent for all systems.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

• Since Agilent ICF 2.2, it is recommended that you use the Tools drop-down menu. Only use the Windows drop-down menu with Agilent ICF 2.1 A.02.03 DU1 HF2.
