How do you determine which process was used for the Agilent PreConfiguration utility? - WKB13860

Article number: 13860

OBJECTIVE or GOAL

Determine which process was used, if any, for the Agilent PreConfiguration utility.

Determine what to delete to ensure that all previous configuration has been removed properly.

ENVIRONMENT

PROCEDURE

Following are the two possible ways to access the PreConfiguration utility.  When this is used, a file is generated in the following locations. Determine which location it is to know which process was used with the PreConfiguration utility.

  1. Remote to the LAC/E node and browse to C:\Empower\Instruments\AgilentLC\Agilent.InstrumentControl.InstrumentPreConfigurator.exe. Look for a file at this directory: C:\ProgramData\Agilent Technologies\Instrument Control Framework\IP.xml (where IP is the IP identified on system) (Tip: Change Windows Explorer > Organize > Folder and Search Options > View > Select “Show hidden files, folders, and drives” to ensure that you have access to the directory above.)
  2. Empower Configuration Manager > Tools > Agilent PreConfiguration.  Specify the Host name or IP of the LAC/E node to Connect.  Look for file at this directory: C:\Empower\Instruments\AgilentLC\PreConfigurations\IP.xml

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Note: It is best to use the PreConfiguration utility consistently and not to duplicate usage. Decide which way to use it and be consistent.

The Waters overall preference is to use Empower Configuration Manager access.

When deleting a previous configuration setup in the PreConfiguration utility, ensure that the file is also deleted. If not, delete it before creating a new configuration.

With Agilent ICF 2.1 HF1 with A.02.03 DU1 HF2, you can access the PreConfiguration utility only via the LAC/E.
