Run Samples window very slow on Empower personal workstation - WKB205727

SYMPTOMS

• Empower slow and unusable
• Run Samples window responds very slowly

ENVIRONMENT

• Empower 3.6.0
• Personal workstation
• DP2021R1

CAUSE

Removal of ESET AV and Veeam backup resolved the issues. All exceptions had been checked and were set, so unclear why performance still affected.

FIX or WORKAROUND

1. Ensure that all required exceptions are set per WKB47333.
2. Disable AV.
3. Disable unsupported backup utilities. Veeam is not tested and is not recommended for use on a live Oracle database.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

The following items were also verified but did not resolve the issue:

• IPv6 fully disabled (WKB9503)
• OracleVSSWriter disabled (WKB191808)
• UAC was disabled
• Local security policy UAC:run all admin in admin approval mode = disabled
• Windows Defender fully disabled
