Article number: 29812

SYMPTOMS

  • Random instrument failures when using 2465 detector

ENVIRONMENT

  • 2465 Electrochemical Detector
  • ACQUITY UPLC
  • Empower 3
  • Windows 7
  • 2465 ICS driver
  • Alliance HPLC System
  • 2695 Separations Module

CAUSE

A known issue exists when using the 2465 detector driver with Windows 7; random instrument failures can occur.

Suspected cause is a Windows 7 COM port issue, where the 2465 will occasionally experience an instrument failure.

PCS 56441 and PCS 34611 have been opened for this issue.

2695 Separations Module communications failure.

FIX or WORKAROUND

Avoid the issue by using a Waters eSAT/IN module to acquire analog data or reimage the computer. Physically disconnect the RS232 cable between the 2465 detector and the acquisition computer

Configure and connect 2465 Electrochemical Detector via Edgeport USB-TO-SERIAL converter and configure system to include e2695 Separations Module ( Ethernet and not IEEE 2695 ) or add two minute next injection delay to Empower 3 run samples when an IEEE 2695 Separations Module is configured in the system.
