How often should we reboot our LAC/E? - WKB16146

Article number: 16146

ENVIRONMENT

  • Empower Enterprise, all versions
  • LAC/E 32

ANSWER

Waters recommends rebooting once in a week. It is not recommended to exceed 30 days without rebooting.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Rebooting the LAC/E is a good way to reset all connections, it flushes the RAM, stops memory leaks, and fixes small errors. In addition, each time you turn on the LAC/E, the power-on self-test (POST) runs automatically and checks the system motherboard, CPU module, memory, keyboard and most installed peripheral devices.

NOTE: It is also recommended to reboot all attached instrument modules when the LACE is rebooted.

NOTE: Waters recommends regularly rebooting the Empower server on a schedule not exceeding 30 days. Re-boot is also recommended whenever OS patches are applied. See - WKB208748
