Errors "Low desolvation gas flow" and "The desolvation gas flow is too low" with Xevo TQD - WKB99395

SYMPTOMS

  • Error" The desolvation gas flow is too low"
  • Error "Low desolvation gas flow" 
  • Error "Stop flow input activated" on solvent manager
  • Nitrogen inlet pressure OK
  • No leaks seen on system
  • The desolvation gas flow parameter in the MS tune page is unresponsive and stuck at a constant value, regardless of what value is entered

ENVIRONMENT

  • MassLynx
  • Xevo TQD

CAUSE

The Xevo TQD has partially lost communication.

FIX or WORKAROUND

Perform an electronic reset on the MS detector:

  1. Close MassLynx.
  2. With a piece of PEEK tubing, push the RESET button on the front of the MS. 
  3. Wait at least three minutes for the MS to initialize.
  4. Open MassLynx.
  5. Open the MS Tune page and confirm that the desolvation gas flow readback changes with a newly entered value.
