How to turn off firewall notifications on Windows 10 PCs used for instrument control - WKB96928

OBJECTIVE or GOAL

When firewall is disabled in Windows 10, system gives periodic notifications, prompting users to enable it, however enabling Windows firewall on a PC which controls Waters instruments often results in loss of communication or data buffering errors.

Such notifications can be switched off in order to prevent users from inadvertently turning firewall on

• Windows 10

PROCEDURE

1. In Windows control panel, go to "Security and Maintenance" expand "Security"
2. Click on "Turn off messages about network firewall"
