How to put an atmospheric solids analysis probe (ASAP) under MassLynx control - WKB7967
Article number: 7967
OBJECTIVE or GOAL
Put an atmospheric solids analysis probe (ASAP) on a Xevo G2-XS or SYNAPT G2-S/Si instrument under MassLynx control, and have the tune page correctly recognize the probe.
ENVIRONMENT
- MassLynx
- SYNAPT G2-S
- SYNAPT G2-Si
- Xevo G2-XS
- Atmospheric Solids Analysis Probe
PROCEDURE
SYNAPT G2-Si

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
- If the above procedure doesn't work, carry out all of the above steps in reverse order, to get back to ESI mode. Once ESI is correctly recognized, repeat all of the above steps.
- If only the outer portion of the ASAP assembly is inserted at step 4, MassLynx may report that an APCI probe has been inserted. Even if you select "OK" for an APCI probe, when the inner part of the ASAP assembly is inserted, the tune page tab will automatically switch to ASAP. However, it has been observed that moving back to ESI after doing this may cause the tune page tab to get stuck in APCI mode, even with the ESI probe in place. It is important to insert the entire intact ASAP probe assembly at step 4. To get the ESI probe recognized, the entire ASAP assembly had to be put back in, and then we had to go from step 8 to step 1 in reverse order.
- In some cases it has been reported that, in addition to the steps detailed in the table, it may be necessary to open and close the source door to get the ASAP recognized.
