ANSWER

First use Telnet to restart the EPC. All mass spectrometers have a reset button for the EPC, but if not done correctly, the system may vent.

Resetting the EPC using Telnet:

  1. Click Windows.
  2. In the search bar, type "Telnet epc" and press Enter.
  3. If Telnet is currently configured on your computer, the DOS prompt window launches.
  4. The window should contain a ">", followed by a blinking cursor.
  5. Type "reboot" in lowercase and press Enter.
  6. The EPC is now rebooting, so you can close the Telnet window. Depending on the MS, the reboot can take up to five minutes. A chime should signal completion.
