The LC line keeps popping out of the divert valve on the mass spectrometer, resulting in a leak - WKB6559

SYMPTOMS

• Leak at port 1 of the divert valve
• Either no beam or a weak beam on the mass spectrometer
• Poor chromatography
• Connecting LC line directly to the MS probe, bypassing the divert valve shows expected chromatography and signal

ENVIRONMENT

• Mass spectrometer
• LCMS

CAUSE

The PEEK line to the probe on the mass spectrometer is blocked.

FIX or WORKAROUND

1. Replace the line that runs from the divert valve (port 2) to the sample probe on the mass spectrometer.
2. Reseat and tighten the fitting from the LC to the divert valve.
