Faulty probe causes unstable signal and low sensitivity - WKB63937

SYMPTOMS

• Low sensitivity
• Chromatogram baseline noisy
• Signal intensity is unstable (on the tune page)
• After PM, instrument sensitivity is 10 times lower

CAUSE

The probe is slightly bent, so the probe tip cannot be adjusted.

FIX or WORKAROUND

Rebuild the ESI probe using probe service kit (700004672). Or, if it's the new one-piece probe, replace the Probe (different variants) and the Probe Tip Assembly (# 700004207).

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

The "tool free probe" may give better performance and reliability than the older style probe.
