Xevo TQS/G2-XS not pumping down after crash vent - WKB63008

Article number: 63008

SYMPTOMS

  • System will not pump down after a crash vent
  • red light flashing on the turbo pump controller

ENVIRONMENT

  • Xevo G2-XS
  • Xevo TQ-S
  • Xevo TQ-XS

CAUSE

System has crash vented for another reason, such as a leak or crushed vacuum hose. This caused the turbo to go into error, this can been seen by a red flashing light on the turbo controller of the turbo that has gone into error.

FIX or WORKAROUND

  1. Open the side panel on the instrument, check that the turbo controller of the pump that is not responding is flashing red
  2. Power off the instrument:
    1. TOF/QTOF:Turn off the electronics (bottom switch on back) and remove the power cord (just a electronics reboot does not reset the turbos)
    2. Quadrupole:use power button on front.
  3. Re-establish communication, check the turbo is now flashing green and pump down the system.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

For customers, it's best to just assume the issue is the turbo controller and power off the instrument, leave the covers on.

Xevo TOF/QTOF instruments do not have power switches necessitating unplugging the instrument. The quadrupole instruments can just be powered off with the power switch.
