Signal drops rapidly in MSMS mode with Xevo G2 Tof - WKB28046

SYMPTOMS

• Signal decreases rapidly with each new injection in MSMS mode acquisitions
• Signal drop also seen during infusion in MSMS mode; signal can be recovered by switching to negative polarity for five minutes and then back to positive
• MS mode is very stable; no charging observed

ENVIRONMENT

• Xevo G2 Tof instruments
• MassLynx

CAUSE

Contamination or ion burn on the quadrupole

FIX or WORKAROUND

Remove contamination on the quadrupole using lapping film.
