How to reboot the electronics of a Xevo TQ Absolute - WKB254088

OBJECTIVE or GOAL

Reboot the electronics on a Xevo TQ Absolute.

PROCEDURE

Hard reboot

NOTE: A hard reboot does not shut down the electronics on the Xevo TQ Absolute; it shuts down only the EPC.

Restart the mass spectrometer when either of these conditions applies:

  • The software fails to establish communication or loses communication with the mass spectrometer.
  • You perform a software upgrade.
  1. Shut down MassLynx or waters_connect.
  2. Insert a short length of tubing, or similar object, into the reset button aperture, located on the right-hand side of the mass spectrometer’s front pane, to operate the reset button.

 3. Remove the tubing from the reset button aperture.

 4. When the boot sequence finishes, open MassLynx or waters_connect and confirm that there are full communications.

Tip: An audible alert sounds when the restart sequence completes.

CAUTION: Pressing the reset button begins the vent process. When communications are restored, the instrument will commence pumping. If communications are not re-established, switch the pumping override switch on the rear panel to “Override”, to prevent the instrument from venting (see override information below).

Electronics reboot

Restart the mass spectrometer with the Electronics reboot when either of these conditions applies:

  • A hard reboot fails to establish communication.
  • A resettable fuse has tripped on a PCB and requires a reset.
  1. Close MassLynx or waters_connect.
  2. Switch the pumping override switch to Override (down position) and the electronics switch to Off (down position).

 3. Wait 1 minute. 

 4. Switch the electronics switch to On (up position).

 5. Allow the instrument several minutes to fully boot up.

Tip: An audible alert sounds when the restart sequence completes.

 6. When the boot sequence finishes, open MassLynx or waters_connect and confirm that there are full communications.

 7. Switch the pumping override switch to Auto (up position).
