Vion drops out of IMS pressure lock after cone cleaning - WKB238028

SYMPTOMS

• After the regular cone cleaning, the instrument often drops out of IMS pressure lock

ENVIRONMENT

• Vion IMS QTof

CAUSE

The cone O-ring does not seat correctly all of the time.

This causes variable backing pressure (and therefore trap pressure) such that it fails its 20% tolerance.

FIX or WORKAROUND

1. Note the backing pressure before removing the cone.
2. Ensure that the cone is seated correctly when replacing, by ensuring that the pressure matches the previous value.
