How do I conserve helium on the SELECT SERIES Cyclic IMS? - WKB237995

Article number: 237995

ENVIRONMENT

  • SELECT SERIES Cyclic IMS

ANSWER

The SELECT SERIES Cyclic IMS consumes helium at a rate of 120 mL/min at all times when it is in Operate, whether the system is performing Ion Mobility acquisitions or not. In order to conserve helium, you can configure a shutdown method in MassLynx that will put the instrument in Standby and shut down the gases at the end of a series of acquisitions.

When restarting the instrument from this shutdown state, it is recommended that you allow approximately 1 hour for the system to settle before running setup and making acquisitions. For this reason, it is advised to only use the shutdown method when the instrument will be unused for an extended period of time (for exanple, overnight or over the weekend).

***PLEASE ENSURE STARTUP METHOD IS CREATED TO TURN HELIUM GAS BACK ON - THIS IS NOT AUTOMATICALLY SWITCHED ON WHEN PUTTING INSTRUMENT INTO OPERATE***
