How to configure the QDa drain - WKB2356

Article number: 2356

OBJECTIVE or GOAL

Configure the solvent drainage system of the QDa to prevent flooding of the instrument.

ENVIRONMENT

  • QDa models KAA and KAB

PROCEDURE

  1. Ensure that the two rear drain tubes—the 4-mm piece from the rear bulkhead (all systems) and the 6-mm piece from the diaphragm pump (standard model only)—are placed into a dedicated empty bottle using the tubing assembly provided with the instrument.
  2. Check the bottle regularly and ensure that it does not fill with solvent; empty it as required.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

The bottle stopper assembly is designed to prevent the drain tubes from being submerged into a bottle full of solvent.

During a vent/pump cycle, these tubes are placed under negative pressure and, if submerged, this would result in ingress of solvents into the system, causing contamination and damage to the instrument. This can result in reduced sensitivity and even irreparable damage to the system.
