SYMPTOMS

• Detector voltage on SYNAPT XS increases repeatedly over a month

ENVIRONMENT

• SYNAPT XS
• MassLynx 4.2

CAUSE

"Automatic Detector Check" is selected.

FIX or WORKAROUND

1. Open the Tune page and underthe  "View" menu, activate "Extended View".
2. "Automatic Detector Check" is now available on the Instrument tab of the Tune page.
3. Clear the check box for "Automatic Detector Check".

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

The automatic detector check was designed for omics experiments. When enabled, a detector check is performed before each sample injection. The detector voltage is increased to compensate for a drop in sensitivity and ensure a stable response for the entire experiment. 

When turned ON, it could increase the detector voltage too frequently and prematurely age the detector.
