In MassLynx: "Error starting acquisition. Wrong Ionization mode requested: ES Mode, Current: API mode" - WKB1895

SYMPTOMS

• Error message "Error starting acquisition. Wrong Ionization mode requested: ES Mode, Current: API mode" appears when the APCI or ASAP run is started
• The acquisition can be started after selecting OK, but the error message will occur for every injection
• The MS tune knows it is an APCI/ASAP source and the MS method has the APCI/ASAP source selected

CAUSE

Automatic gain control is enabled. That is supported only in Electrospray mode (ESI or nanoESI).

FIX or WORKAROUND

1. Access the Tune page Extended View.

2. Select the Instrument tab.

3. Clear the selection for the Automatic Gain Control option.
