Xevo TQD Turbo controller fault, instrument vented - WKB1504

Article number: 1504

SYMPTOMS

  • Turbo Controller Fault
  • Instrument vented

ENVIRONMENT

  • Xevo TQD
  • TQ Detector
  • Xevo TQ-S micro
  • SQ Detector 2

CAUSE

Cause is unknown for FIX steps 1 through 4.

Turbo pump is actually nonfunctional.

FIX or WORKAROUND

  1. Close MassLynx Software.
  2. Power off Xevo TQD to reset the turbo controller.
  3. Wait about 2 minutes and then power back on.
  4. Start the vacuum system. If that does not work, keep the Xevo TQD powered on and proceed to step 5.
  5. Measure the voltages on any of the 10 pins on the turbo controller to PCB cable (J37). Some should be 24 V depending on the state of the mass spec.
  6. If all of the pins measure zero volts, replace the turbo pump (if needed - with upgrade kit including new controller and cables).
