Xevo TQ infusion pump is loud; no sample take-up - WKB118442

SYMPTOMS

• Infusion pump makes loud noises when purging/pumping
• No sample take-up from bottles/lines A, B, or C
• No spray during infusion.

CAUSE

The onboard fluidics system is dry/air locked.

FIX or WORKAROUND

1. Place MS-grade isopropyl alcohol (100%) into an infusion bottle [700004256 - Bottle, 30-ML (6/pk)] or a split-cap 2-mL glass vial and place it on location A of the fluidics.
2. Place MS-grade isopropyl alcohol (100%) into a bottle and place the fluidics wash line into it.
3. From the tune page or ACQUITY console, select "wash" reservoir and then select "purge".
4. Purge from the wash 20 times; this will remove all air from the syringe/waste tubing. 
5. Select bottle/location A and purge five times from this position. 
6. Move bottle/vial to B and repeat step 5.
7. Move bottle/vial to C and repeat step 5.
8. Check for flow by setting the valve to "infusion" flow rate 50 uL/min.
   • For TQ-S, remove the tubing from the probe inlet and check for flow.
   • For TQ-XS, remove the probe assembly from the divert valve and check for flow from the valve outlet (alternatively, attach some PEEK tubing to the port and check for from the end of the tubing). 
9. Ensure that sample is being taken up during "refill" command from the correct bottle/vial.
10. Replace tubing and set a flow of 50 uL/min infusion and check for a spray from the capillary tip.
11. Replace wash solvent reservoir with fresh solvent of the desired composition, and purge five times.
